Job description
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Chef with a genuine commercial kitchen background and the practical ability to deliver consistent results in a professional hospitality environment. This role is suited to a Chef who can demonstrate their career through recognised qualifications, genuine employment experience and practical kitchen capability. Your professional background will be an important part of establishing your suitability for the role. You will be involved across food preparation, cooking, presentation, kitchen organisation and service, while also contributing to menu development and supporting junior members of the team.
Requirements
- • Prepare and cook food across lunch and dinner service
- • Present dishes to a consistently high standard
- • Organise daily food preparation according to service requirements
- • Maintain effective mise-en-place before and during service
- • Take independent responsibility for an allocated kitchen section
- • Contribute to seasonal menu items, specials and new dish development
- • Apply appropriate professional cooking techniques and preparation methods
- • Monitor food quality, presentation and portion consistency
- • Assist with ingredient ordering and kitchen stock management
- • Maintain correct food storage, stock rotation and temperature controls
- • Monitor ingredient usage and minimise avoidable food wastage
- • Maintain clean, hygienic and organised work areas
- • Follow applicable Australian food safety and workplace health and safety requirements
- • Coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house staff to support efficient service
- • Communicate clearly during busy periods to maintain accurate food preparation
- • Maintain consistent performance in a fast-paced commercial kitchen
- • Provide practical guidance to junior kitchen staff
- • Assist with training and development of less-experienced team members
- • Follow workplace recipes, kitchen procedures and established standards
- • Contribute to a respectful, professional and customer-focused team environment
