Job description

A seaside hotel and restaurant operation close to Christchurch is hiring a permanent, full-time Duty Manager.

You split your shifts between the hotel, its beer garden and the restaurant, reporting to the Venue Manager and GM. The category is hospitality, the pay range sits at the top of this page and the location is Christchurch, New Zealand. Expect a busy floor, front-of-house crews to lead, staff rosters and bookings to manage, and days that rarely repeat. Licensing is part of the brief too, under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012. This can be a sponsorship role for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations at the hotel and the restaurant
  • Stay compliant with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and every licensing requirement
  • Lead the front-of-house crew, manage staff, take bookings and deliver excellent customer service
  • Keep both venues warm, safe and professional for guests and staff

Requirements

  • NZ Duty Manager Certificate (LCQ + Manager's Certificate), current, or willing to obtain
  • Background in hospitality management or supervision
  • Great communication skills
  • Great leadership and problem-solving ability
  • Solid, strong grasp of host responsibility and alcohol compliance
  • Positive, proactive attitude, especially under pressure
