We are seeking an experienced Roading Maintenance Supervisor for a permanent, full-time position in Marlborough, New Zealand. Key responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate a small road maintenance crew
  • Schedule and prioritise daily maintenance activities
  • Manage routine and reactive road maintenance requirements
  • Inspect road networks and identify defects, hazards and emerging issues
  • Assess risks and determine appropriate maintenance responses
  • Record inspections, defects and work requirements using GPS and tablet systems
  • Coordinate emergency works and incident responses
  • Monitor crew and contractor performance
  • Ensure work is completed safely and to required standards
  • Maintain effective traffic management practices
  • Communicate with clients, contractors and internal teams
  • Coordinate resources and respond to changing operational priorities
  • Participate in an on-call roster
  • Respond to night-time incidents, animal hazards and emergency call-outs
  • Provide practical leadership and support to crew members
  • Make independent decisions when dealing with changing road conditions and urgent maintenance issues

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in roading maintenance or civil construction
  • Previous experience in a Roading Foreman, Supervisor or equivalent leadership role
  • Strong practical knowledge of road maintenance materials and repair methods
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a small crew
  • Strong communication, organisational and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
  • Confidence using tablets, GPS and basic computer systems
  • Experience with AWM or RAMM is highly advantageous
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Understanding of traffic management requirements
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
  • Class 2 New Zealand driver's licence or equivalent
  • Relevant overseas experience in roading or civil construction may be considered
  • Ability to provide verifiable employment history, qualifications and professional experience
