Job description

We are looking for an experienced Metal Fabricator or Boilermaker to join an established structural steel team in Western Australia. This is a hands-on opportunity for a trade professional who can demonstrate genuine experience in structural steel fabrication, welding, fitting and on-site modifications. Rather than simply matching a job to a résumé, the selection process focuses on your trade qualifications, practical experience and ability to perform the work to Australian industry expectations. The successful candidate will work on structural steel projects in a professional construction environment, with access to company equipment, tools and PPE. For suitably qualified overseas tradespeople, skilled visa sponsorship is available, providing an opportunity to establish a long-term career in Australia.

Requirements

• Interpret structural drawings, technical specifications and welding symbols
• Review job requirements and plan fabrication activities accordingly
• Measure, mark and set out steel sections and plates accurately
• Prepare steel, materials, tools and equipment for fabrication
• Cut steel using flame cutters, grinders and other suitable equipment
• Straighten, bend, form and shape steel sections and plates
• Fit and assemble structural steel components on site
• Secure components using bolting and welding techniques
• Position steelwork using cranes and hoists in coordination with rigging personnel
• Complete tack welding to maintain correct positioning and alignment
• Perform structural welding using MMAW, GMAW and FCAW processes
• Use GTAW welding techniques where required
• Carry out on-site cutting, drilling and welding modifications
• Modify and fabricate brackets, cleats, connections and structural members
• Inspect completed fabrication work for accuracy, alignment and quality
• Maintain safe working practices and comply with construction-site requirements
