Job description

Food manufacturer in Hamilton needs a planner to run production schedules and link the factory with sales.

Role Production Planner & Supply Chain Officer. Location Hamilton, New Zealand. Full-time, 40 hours per week, plus extra hours in peak season. Start as soon as possible.

The business is a growing primary-sector producer selling mostly into China and Southeast Asia. Deer velvet peak season lasts until February/March, so you will need to hit the ground running. You will have one direct report, making this a first leadership step with room to grow.

This role is only for people already in New Zealand, and offshore applications will not be read. The employer is accredited and is open to people who need an Accredited Employer Work Visa to be sponsored, as long as they are in the country now and have New Zealand work experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Schedule production against capacity, cost and quality goals and keep the plan on track
  • Forecast demand and set a longer-term operating outlook
  • Run SAP well, covering master data, inventory and bills of materials
  • Manage dispatch, packaging suppliers and wider supply chain work, and support QA on traceability, MPI and export market rules

Requirements

  • Manufacturing production planning experience
  • Strong forecasting skills
  • Hands-on ERP use (SAP strongly preferred, training provided)
  • Experience in food or primary industry manufacturing
  • QA knowledge
  • Clear communication and confident handling of customer expectations
  • Practical, resilient and flexible when deadlines shift
  • Team leadership, health and safety experience or knowledge of exporting to Asia is desirable
  • Anyone shortlisted goes through a Ministry of Justice criminal record check and reference checks
